For the competitor inside each of us!
GTS is designed for the common student who may or may not want to compete but will benefit from friendly competition. This local competition series helps reduce competition nervousness and eases students into performing in front of a more intimate, supportive audience. GTS is run by Master Jonathan Fleming of WOW Taekwondo in Waxhaw, NC and is comprised of Member Schools who are committed to seeing their students succeed in local, supportive competitions. GTS participants must be members of AAU Taekwondo to participate in all learning events and tournaments.
We encourage students from White Belt and higher to put their hard work and training to use at our supportive GTS competitions. GTS is designed to be low-stress so students do not feel fear or anxiety in competing. GTS believes students who compete in our events will build self-confidence, learn quickly and have focused goals for training. GTS helps them see that they are not just training for a belt or for the sake of training; competition gives them a focus and purpose to their Taekwondo training.

GTS is for Taekwondo students white belt or higher who would like to experience sparring in a supportive, friendly environment and grow in the sport. Athletes need to be AAU members to compete in GTS competitions and take advantage of sparring workshops.
Parents are an important part of GTS, both as supporters of their child and as volunteers for this Grassroots Effort. We encourage parents to not only be spectators at GTS events, but to become volunteer referees for GTS competitions. Referee seminars are provided!
GTS needs coaches and schools to participate in this Grassroots Effort to help students achieve their best in TKD. GTS Member Coaches can help grow their students in a supportive and friendly environment, helping to spread the benefits of TKD outside their own schools.
Black belts and parent volunteers are encouraged to become referees for GTS. Referees are critical for GTS’ success, helping students to learn the rules of sparring. Referee members participate in Referee Seminars to teach them the skill and art of fair refereeing.
